In 2022, Ginebra San Miguel was by far the leading brand of gin worldwide, selling over 37 million 9 liter cases. Ranking second, Gordon’s sold 7.7 million cases of the distilled alcoholic drink. Gin is often used for the favorite long drink ‘gin and tonic.’
Gin sales in the U.S.
In 2022, just under ten million 9 liter cases of gin were sold in the United States. Over the last decade and a half, the average American gin sales volume has noticeably decreased. In 2021, gin was frequently bought in retail. U.S. retail sales for gin reached nearly three billion U.S. dollars, while supplier sale were just over the one billion U.S. dollar mark.
U.S. consumption
In 2021, American consumers drank a total of about 9.8 million 9 liter cases of gin. Similar to the decrease in sales volume, U.S. consumption numbers have also gone down since 2013. While gin is a beverage that is consumed all year long, the alcoholic drink is appreciated most during the summer months and in December.
