Iron nuggets are a crafting material in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They may be obtained by hitting rocks with either a shovel or an axe. Balloon presents may also contain iron nuggets. Villagers may give them to the player while Nook's Cranny is under construction.

Obtaining[]
Initially, iron may be difficult to obtain due to the limited number of rocks on the accessible part of the island. Once the Vaulting pole and Ladder are obtained, more rocks become available.
On the second day, the airport becomes available. By purchasing a Nook Miles Ticket at the Nook Stop, players can visit deserted islands. Each island will have around 4-5 rocks, providing a reliable and continually available source of iron.
Uses[]
Iron nuggets are primarily used in higher tier tools and metallic furniture.
Timmy will ask the player for 30 iron nuggets in addition to other materials for the construction of Nook's Cranny.
Tools and Utility Items[]
The Axe, Shovel, Watering can, Fishing rod, and Net can all be crafted from their flimsy counterparts using an iron nugget.
The simple DIY workbench and the Mini DIY workbench both require iron nuggets.
