Is Panera bread bread vegan? ›

Is the bread at Panera vegan? Many of the bread options at Panera are vegan! Vegan options include the classic, rustic, and whole grain sourdough breads, black pepper and sea salt focaccia breads, ciabatta, french baguette, and some of their bagels.

There is one vegan sandwich option at Panera—with a modification. Order the Mediterranean Veggie without feta and ask for it on vegan-friendly bread (listed above). We particularly enjoy this handhold on ciabatta or black pepper focaccia.

Edited to add: I have since been told that the feta cheese is NOT vegetarian. Therefore, make sure you order it without! With the “You Pick Two” selection, Panera Bread also offers a side choice of potato chips, bread, or an apple. I generally try to go with the lighter and healthier option: an apple!

The critical choice here is the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich. However, as mentioned above, remember that the default tomato basil bread is not vegan due to the inclusion of honey. To enjoy the Mediterranean Veggie Sandwich as a vegan, switching the bread to a vegan-friendly option, such as sourdough, is recommended.

Unfortunately for vegans, none of the sandwich bread at Chick-fil-A is vegan-friendly. The buns and brioche contain dairy and honey, and the flaxseed flour flatbread in the Grilled Cool Wrap contains l-cysteine. Stick to the salads and the fries, and you'll be in good (vegan) hands.

There's nothing quite like the dense, toothy texture of bagels. In their most basic form, bagels are vegan, made from just flour, water, yeast, and salt. But other non-vegan ingredients—including dairy, honey, and eggs, along with less easily identifiable animal products—commonly appear in commercially produced bagels.

One major complaint people have about the soup is that it is not vegetarian because it is made with chicken stock. I've called for vegetable broth here, although you could certainly use chicken stock if the vegetarian factor isn't a priority for you.

Our Sofritas is vegan and vegetarian approved. Vegans should avoid our meats, shredded Monterey Jack cheese, queso, sour cream, and chipotle-honey vinaigrette. Our tortillas, vegetables, rice, beans, salsas, chips and guacamole, are vegetarian and vegan.

Firstly, parmesan cheese is not vegetarian if it follows a traditional recipe which uses animal rennet. That said, you'll still be able to find vegetarian alternatives in many supermarkets or food stores. Other cheeses which are unlikely to be vegetarian include: Roquefort, Grana Padano and Gorgonzola.

The answer here is a pretty straightforward no. As feta cheese is made from the milk of sheep and sometimes goats it isn't suitable for anyone on a fully plant-based diet. Vegans will not only abstain from eating meat, but also all animal products or other foods that are made with the use of byproducts too.

Bagels. Vegan bagels include everything, plain, blueberry, and sesame varieties. While Panera doesn't offer a dairy-free cream cheese spread, you don't have to eat your bagel plain! You may be able to snag some avocado or hummus to round out your brekkie handheld.
