The Top 6 Different Types of Cookies Available

They are as follows;

1. Bar Cookies

Just as their name implies, bar cookies are cookies readied and cut into bite-sized bars and sometimes bite-sized squares. Baked in a shallow pan, they can be firm or soft, depending on your preference. Also, they can have various bases, toppings, or fillings. A good example is the fudgy chocolate brownie cookies.

2. Molded Cookies

Molded cookies are “molded” by hand. What’s more, these cookies can be pressed with a fork/glass or rolled in a suitable coating such as chopped nuts before baking. Italian vanilla cookies, biscotti cookies, and peanut butter cookies are common examples of molded cookies.

3. Drop Cookies

Oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip cookies all fall under the category of drop cookies. Making these cookies entails dropping soft doughs you’ve shaped onto a cookie sheet and baking them in the oven. Since they will flatten and spread out a little bit during cooking, it is imperative that you allow at least 1.5 inches between your cookies.

4. Pressed Cookies

Spritz and other pressed cookies are made by forcing the dough through a cookie press directly onto a baking sheet. They are some of the easiest types of cookies to make.

5. Refrigerator Cookies

These cookies include pinwheels cookies, icebox cookies, cornmeal cookies, and butter cookies. They are made by forming the dough into several, long even rolls about 2 inches wide. These rolls are then wrapped in plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or wax paper and then chilled before being baked. This results in more flavorful cookies with a luscious butterscotch flavor, plus a thicker and chewier texture not to mention a browner look.

6. Cutout/ RolledCookies

Called cutout because they are created from a stiff dough cut into various shapes using cookie cutters. Gingerbread cookies are a good example of these cookies.
