We gave the original model an easy five stars in our Ninja Creami review, but we reckon the Ninja Creami Deluxe is a serious upgrade.
All in all the Creami Deluxe has 10 different programs to please sweet-treat fans, including four new modes: Frappe, Frozen Drink, Slushi & Frozen Yoghurt.
Here's what we thought of this new and improved version of the Creami when we got an exclusive first look at it alongside a host of other new Ninja releases, including the brand's genius new air fryer design, the Ninja Double Stack.
The new Ninja Creami Deluxe
The new Ninja Creami Deluxe is available to buy now from Ninja, and you can be one of the first to get your hands on it (before it reaches viral sell-out status again).
The original Ninja Creami ice cream maker was one of the brand's bestselling products of last year, but despite its popularity, one complaint from customers was that its overall capacity wasn't quite big enough to cater to a whole family. After all, if you've spent all day crafting a new gelato flavour, you want everyone to be able to try it.
With the Ninja Creami Deluxe, not only has the capacity been bumped up from 560ml (1 pint) to 709ml, but you also receive three pots of that same size to stash your creations in.
Another feature to help you up your dessert game at home is the new Advanced CREAMify Technology. When I got to see a demonstration of the Creami Deluxe at its unveiling, I saw how you can whizz up creamier scoops than with the standard model thanks to the mixing mechanism working at both the top and the bottom of the mixes.

Plus, it's fair to say the four new functions were the part that excited us the most about the Creami Deluxe. With Frappe, you can make all of your favourite coffee-shop-style drinks for a fraction of the price, while the drinks function makes frozen margaritas super easy to achieve at home.

The Ninja Creami contains a Smoothie Bowl setting and the Ninja Creami Deluxe does not. The Ninja Creami Deluxe has frozen drink settings that the Creami lacks. Overall, the Ninja Creami has fewer settings with only seven, and the Creami Deluxe has 11.

What's the difference between the Ninja Creami and the Ninja Creami Deluxe? The Ninja Creami has seven pre-programmed settings, while the Ninja Creami Deluxe has four additional settings, adding slushy, Italian ice, frozen drink, Creamiccino, and frozen yogurt.
Ninja recommends freezing Creami bases for 24 hours, but we've had success with 8 to 12 hour freezing times, too. In our experience, freezing bases for 24 hours or longer usually meant they'd be very chalky on the first run through the Creami and require multiple respins.
Can I use frozen fruit in the Ninja Creami? Yes, you can. But, frozen fruit either needs to be thawed out before using, blended with the other ingredients, or have a liquid, like dairy added to the pint to fill in all of the gaps. You cannot only use frozen fruit as it could damage the machine.
Its blades break down a solid block of frozen ingredients to give the ice cream a smooth and creamy consistency. This means instead of freezing an ice cream machine's bowl and refrigerating the custard to make the ice cream, you freeze the custard base and the CREAMi turns the frozen ingredients into ice cream.
- If your base is crumbly or powdery after processing, use the RE-SPIN program to make it smoother and creamier. Note: do NOT RE-SPIN if you will also be using the MIX-IN program, since running both after another program may over process ingredients.
My ice cream is icy. This is probably the most common problem with home made ice cream. And it's caused by large ice crystals forming in the mixture as it freezes. Large ice crystals are usually the result of either too much water in the mix or excessively long freezing time.
But it takes a lot of force to repeatedly drill a blade through material that's frozen solid, and we could tell that the machine was working hard—maybe too hard. As we tested the Creami, it shook and smelled of burning plastic more than once. One taster even detected a burnt-plastic flavor in the ice cream.
Why is my Ninja Creami ice cream crumbly? According to the Ninja Creami recipe pamphlet, the base comes out crumbly when it's too cold. The re-spin function was designed to address this. Simply re-install the pint and spin it again.
The quality of the 5-1 is the same as the 7-1. It just has fewer functions. You don't HAVE TO HAVE a frozen yogurt button to make frozen yogurt. You can use lite ice cream instead.
