Orange Julius History
Orange Julius is a smoothie shop that has been around since 1926. The shop started selling its famous frothy Orange Julius drink and is now apart of the Dairy Queen franchise. You may have seen a Dairy Queen/Orange Julius around!
The original Orange Julius smoothie was the official drink of the World Fair in 1964. Johnny Carson gave his audience lifetime passes to the smoothie shop the next year.
You could say that the Orange Julius franchise has been a pretty popular destination for years. Before they became part of the Dairy Queen franchise, they were a hot spot in mall food courts.
They started selling only one smoothie drink (the original orange!) and have since expanded their menu to cover other flavors. Among them is the delicious Strawberry Julius. And you guessed it, and it’s made with fresh strawberries instead of oranges!
You can also find mango pineapple, pina colada, berry pomegranate, and triple-berry there as well.
The one unique characteristic of any Orange Julius drink is the froth. They blend it up and serve it frothy instead of smooth, like most places. This means that there is less ice and more liquid when blended.
In this case, you have more milk than ice in the blender. The strawberry Julius is pretty simple to make and uses ingredients that you probably have on hand already.
