McDonald's Is Bringing Back Its Biggest Burgers Ever (2024)

Feeling really, really hungry? This burger's for you.

McDonald’s isn’t messing around in 2024. On Tuesday, the fast food giant quietly announced the return of the Double Big Mac after four long years off the menu.

According to the company’s Menu Spotter, the absolutely massive Double Big Mac is coming back on Jan. 24 for a limited time at participating restaurants around the United States.

“The Double Big Mac is double the fun with four 100% all-beef patties and more Big Mac sauce, of course,” the Menu Spotter explained. “It’s topped with pickles, crisp shredded lettuce, finely chopped onions, and a slice of American cheese, all sandwiched between a fluffy sesame seed bun.”

The Double Big Mac was first introduced in March 2020 (you remember March 2020, right?) alongside the smaller version, the Little Mac, to even things out. Sadly, the Little Mac doesn’t appear to be returning this time around, as smaller, bite-sized products don’t appear to be a priority for the brand.

On Dec. 6, Chris Kempczinski, the CEO of McDonald’s, foreshadowed the return of the Double Big Mac (and potentially other larger-than-life creations) in an interview with CNN, in which he stated, “In the U.S., in a number of markets, around the world, having a larger burger is an opportunity.” Kempczinski added. “We’re working on that … that is something that you should expect in the future.”

And while McDonald’s says this run of the Double Big Mac is for a limited time, it could end up on a permanent menu if it’s a hit. Jo Sempels, McDonald’s president of International Developmental Licensed Markets, shared at an investor event that McDonald’s plans to test options in limited markets and roll out winning concepts more widely, CNN reported.

“We’ve identified an unmet customer need with a significant opportunity to drive future growth in beef, and that is the large beef burger customer — a desire for larger, high-quality burgers that fill you up and are delivered in a convenient and affordable way,” Sempels added.

McDonald’s did not share a specific price point for the new Double Big Mac, however, a spokesperson disclosed to Today that the price is determined by individual restaurants and may vary by location. But, as Kempczinski noted, you shouldn’t worry about the price being wildly high for this enormous burger. As he noted to CNN, “We think we’re going to be able to deliver a great tasting large burger at a superior value to what [customers] can get anywhere else.”
