I have a C-Section scar. Is it safe to laser over it? - La Unique Laser Centre (2024)

We highly recommend that you wait until your c-section scar is full healed before having any laser hair removal device go over it. Your c-section scar might not fully recover for at least several months so it is important to be patient and wait until you resume your laser hair removal treatments.

Initially, the c-section scar might appear reddish or pinkish in colour and be sensitive to the touch; however, the scar will eventually diminish. Keep in mind that the scar area may still be uncomfortable which means it may be necessary for our Medical Aesthetician to reduce the intensity of the laser foryour comfort. During a laser hair removal procedure, the laser’s heat and light are directed towards the hair follicles. If the laser pulsed over a scar that hasn’t fully healed, more harm can be inflicted on the
area.

We advise to hold off on any type of laser for at least 12-15 weeks after a c-section and/or consult your primary care provider for additional advice. It is preferable to wait until the scar has completely lost all traces of inflammation and redness. Keep a watchful eye on your skin to prevent any negative laser effects.

At La Unique Laser Centre, our team of Medical Aestheticians are dedicated to laser hair removal services in Brampton and Mississauga. We will ensure to take every precaution necessary and keep your skin safe during your laser treatment.
