Where can I find Colorado hunt codes? ›

These codes are found in our brochures and represent licenses that are available to you. A hunt code is what you enter when applying for the draw. Every hunt code is unique, but they are all structured the same way, so if you know how to read them, you can understand what every unique hunt code means.

In Colorado, you must purchase your points during the all-species application period. There is not a separate points-only purchase period in Colorado, and you cannot purchase points during the Secondary Draw.

"In Colorado, you can hunt on your own land without a license if you are a resident of the state and the land is designated as your primary residence. "

One parcel MUST be a minimum of 160 contiguous acres in order to qualify for landowner preference. I own 160 contiguous acres in a GMU and several additional 100 acre parcels in that unit that are not contiguous to the 160 acre parcel.

The "Trophy” Units

Use a preference point hunt code as your first choice option in your application if your goal is to only accumulate points for use toward a future quality hunt. Examples of preference point hunt codes are E-P-999-99-P (for elk) or D-P-999-99P (for deer).

In 2024, testing fees for voluntary submissions will be waived for all moose statewide and all deer from hunt codes that were not selected for mandatory testing but are within the same GMUs that were selected for mandatory testing. Voluntary submissions are accepted annually statewide.
